BOARD MEETING MINUTES FOR GIVE-A-KID PROJECTS
ON MAY 5, 2015
The meeting was called to order by President Kris Hummel. All board members were present.
The minutes from January were approved unanimously. The Treasurer’s report shows a balance on hand of $17,295.28 in our checking account. After some explanation of some line items, the entire treasurer’s report was approved unanimously.
Tim Currin reported on the Golf Outing on June 7th at Chisholm Hills. 21 teams are currently signed up and we hope to have as many as 27 by the time of the event. There are 45 tee sponsors and many corporate sponsors. Many silent auction items have been donated and the event should be a wonderful fundraiser for our organization. The Bowling Tournament will be held on Sunday, November 7th at City Limits in Mason starting at 9:00 a.m.
Kris gave a report on building repairs being completed very soon. The basement area will be specifically for clothing and shoes and the upstairs will be for household items. It was moved by Sandy that we give Elwyn and Pat Greathouse Visa gift cards in the amount of $250.00 each for their many hours of working on this project as a gesture of our appreciation. Dave Kelly will purchase them. Sandy will get gift cards from Texas Roadhouse for Tom Miller who did a lot of the painting and Pete Haak who built our shelves. We have students from Hope Middle School coming to work on our landscaping for two hours on Friday, May 8th and on May 30th a group of youth and adults from Trinity Church will come to help in the yard, as well.
Monthly response groups were assigned for the rest of the year. They are as follows: May – Frieda Week 1 &2 in June - Tim and Carrie Week 3 & 4 Kari July – Kari August – Sandy September - Tim and Carrie October – Lana November – Kris December – Kris and Kari
The Holt Hometown Festival was discussed and Sandy offered to pay a sponsorship on behalf of Give-A-Kid at the bronze level for $50.00. She will confirm how to do that online with Marcy and confirm what that level will give us on the day of the event on August 22nd.
It was suggested that we add a “Wish List” in our quarterly newsletters. Right now we could use donations of bins for our clothing. We also need to have a sheet of upcoming events to hand to each client as well as contact information for them to use. Backpack information will be sent to clients we’ve already served through our e-mail.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 25th at 4:30 at the warehouse.
