In August of 2003 the Backpack program was begun; 50 backpacks were distributed at that time to children in need. To this date we have given out over 2000 backpacks. We need to replenish our supplies of backpacks, paper, pens, pencils, etc. for early September distribution. Having the items the backpack program provides will not only assist recipients in completing their school lessons, it will increase self-worth as well. This program helps close the gap between students who fall in this less-advantaged group and their peers.

GIVE-A-KID-PROJECTS is offering new backpacks filled with grade appropriate school supplies to families that cannot afford to purchase these items for children in grades Pre-K through 12th for the 2018-19 school year.

WHAT TO BRING: (ALL applications REQUIRE the following proofs)

*If you do not live in Holt School District, then you must bring proof that your children go to a Holt School (most recent report card from Holt Schools)

*Picture I.D. (Valid Driver’s License or State Identification Card)
*Proof of current address (property tax receipt, lease agreement, utility bill)
*Social Security Card for person making the application
*Social Security Numbers for ALL adults 18 & older in the home
*Paperwork to verify income for ALL adults 18 & older in the home
*DHS case number, DHS Case Worker Name and Direct Phone Number
*Medicaid/insurance card OR birth certificate OR Social Security Card to Verify
Children 17 & under in the home
